SAVE THE DATE! 10-12 June 2025, Bergen, Norway & online.
uPcycle is delivering a workshop on nutrient sustainability in the aquaculture industry, in partnership with the European Sustainable Phosphorus Platform (ESPP), who are coordinating the event alongside partners in Norway.
The workshop will explore key topics including:
Nutrient flows
Best practices in nutrient management
Phosphorus recycling
Emerging regulatory changes
Participants will also take part in site visits to two leading research facilities:
Marineholmen RA Slab in Bergen, a centre of innovation specialising in Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) technology
National Algaepilot Mongstad, a facility dedicated to advancing sustainable microalgae production for applications in food, feed, and bio-based chemicals
Building on the success of the previous uPcycle workshop, "Sustainable Nutrients in the Intensive Livestock Industry"—held in Brittany in March—this aquaculture-focused event will contribute to a dedicated section in the upcoming uPcycle White Paper. This section will specifically address phosphorus sustainability in the aquaculture sector, as part of a broader exploration of cross-sectoral nutrient challenges and solutions.
